Seen here is a panorama showing a portion of the Alaskan Way Viaduct just south of downtown along the waterfront. Since 1953 it has carried automobiles as part of State Route 99. In 2001 an earthquake damaged the bridge, requiring millions of dollars of repairs and an increase in scheduled inspections and maintenance. It has been determined that the Viaduct should be removed within the next few years. As to just what is to replace it? This is still an ongoing hot topic amongst those of the area. Personally, I hate the thing and look forward to seeing it removed.

With this in mind, I have shot many VR images along the Alaskan Way Viaduct over the years. Including this shot with a view of the Viaduct from the roof of the Silver Cloud Hotel in Pioneer Square.
